The altitude is 2,414 meters above sea level, and the highest peak is Kharlagtai Peak with the height of 3,539 meters while the lowest point is on the cross of Orkhon and Tamir rivers at 1,290 metres. The area consists of high mountains, forests and steppes and it borders to Khuvsgul Aimag (north), Bulgan Aimag (north east), Uvurkhangai Aimag (south east), Bayankhongor (south) and Zavkhan (west) respectively. Granite from the Old Stone Age was found from the northern part of the aimag while sandy rocks from the western part. Also, iron ore around Tamir River, volcano rocks in Suman River Basin and precious stones are found in this aimag. </div><br /><div style="text-align: left;padding:0 0 0 0px;"><strong>Meteorology </strong></div><div style="text-align: justify;">In the Tsetserleg Sum, the center of the aimag, average air temperature is 0.1°C and, in January -15.6°C and in July +14.7°C. Khangai Mountain Range is one of the places with high precipitation where the annual precipitation fall in Tsetserleg is 344mm. Average wind speed is 2.6m/sec that reaches up to 3.5m/sec during April, the windiest month of the year. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /><div style="text-align: left;padding:0 0 0 0px;"><strong><strong>Soil </strong></strong></div>Soil is mainly scattered grey, sandy brown, black and black brown soils of pasture land and forests. <br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;padding:0 0 0 0px;"><strong><strong>Rivers and Lakes </strong></strong></div><div style="text-align: justify;">North and South rivers of Tamir that takes source from the Khangai Mountain Range, Orkhon, Chuluut, Khanui, Khunui, north and south of Terkh, Suman, Gichgene, Tsagaan Sum, Shirdeg, Sogoot, Khukh Sum, Tsenkher, fast-flowing rivers of Tsetserleg flow through the aimag for 100-350km. Many smaller rivers and springs join these rivers to nourish pasture and hay lands and to nurture residents, live stock and wild animals of the aimag. There are 188 saline lakes and fresh water ponds such as Terkh Tsagaan, Ugii, Duruu, Kholboo, Khukh, Tsaidam, Builan, Duut, Erkht, Khuduu and about 674 drinking fountains, 844 smaller rivers and rivulets. Also, the territory includes about 50 nurturing hot and cold springs and spring-like fountains such as Khadat, Uurdiin Tokhoi, Khanui, Mukhart Khujirt, Noyon Khangai, Tsenkheriin hot spring, Shivert, Ulaan Ereg, Bor Tal, Belkhi, Gilaan, Chuluutyn hot Spring, Tsagaan sum, Angarkhai, Orookh, Bor burgast, Bumbat, and Khan Undur. </div></div><br /><div style="text-align: left;padding:0 0 0 0px;"><strong>Flora </strong></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Rare medicinal herbs such as Mongolian strenbergia, roseroot, saussurea invoclurata, valerian, wild rose, artemisia macrocephala, Polygonum viviparum, rose acicularis, plantain, gentian algida, rhodiola quadrifida, diasthus superbus, meadow cranesbill, astragal, lagopsis supina, yellow and blue gentian, great burnet, thyme, thermopsis, milkwort, rumex, buttercup, edelweiss, licorice, caraway, Taraxacum officinale, saxifrage and peony grow in this region. About fifty species of woody plants including acacia, pentaphyllloides, calligonum, cotoneaster, myricaria, wild cherry, spiraea, sympegma, honeysuckle, fir, abies, larch, cedar, birch, pine, mountain avens, poplar and willow. Tea plants like fleabane, silene conoidea, bergenia and wild rose leaves are in plenty. In some parts of the region edible plants like potentilla, onion, wild garlic, nettle, olygonum, allium odorum, garlic allium senescens, chives, sawwort, mushroom, sphallerocaprus gracilis, allium Chinense, caraway, Mongolian onion, lilium pumilum, bistort and alpine bistort are plenty. And black currant, wild plum, cranberry, sweet berry, blueberry, gooseberry, black cherry, strawberry etc., and juniper sabina, juniper sibirica, thyme, Artemisia santalinifolia etc., fragrant plants are also in plenty. In summertime numerous beautiful flowers bloom. For example, aquilegia, globe flower, pasque flavescens, plaque ambigua, tulip, rose, poppy, asterothamnus, delphinium grandiflorum and dandelion. </div><br /><strong>Fauna</strong><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">Rodents: Narrow-skulled vole, long tailed gopher, marmot, field mouse, forest red mouse, red mouse, rock wall-reeper and squirrels are found.  </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Hoofed Animals: Roe deer, boar and deer are common. White antelope rarely. Ger area home turned into eco-friendly model

At the press conference after the official talks, the Japanese Premier informed that Mongolians with diplomatic passport will be exempt from visas, and multiple entry visas for ordinary passport bearers will be issued.</div><a name='more'></a><br />Abe also informed that Japan invited 200 Mongolian children and youngsters this year through the youth cooperation of Northeast Asia. Japan hosted 300 children and youth from Mongolia last year. Japan will expand such exchanges, promote Mongolia’s effort to accelerate its economic growth by sending experts and professionals to Japan, noted Shinzo Abe.<br />President Ts.Elbedorj commented that this is his seventh meeting with Prime Minister Abe since 2013, and underlined its significance in the development of Japan-Mongolia relations.<br /><div style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; line-height: 14.3000001907349px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px 0px 10px; text-align: justify; vertical-align: baseline;">“In recent years, Mongolia and Japan have achieved the closest partnership in the Northeast Asian region,” stated the President Ts.Elbedorj and emphasized that “Erch Initiative” by Shinzo Abe played a decisive role in intensifying the bilateral relations in such a short period.<br />“Mongolians are delighted that the two governments formed the Economic Partnership Agreement,” he stressed.<br />Praising Japan’s path as a peace-loving nation after WW II, Ts.Elbedorj commended Abe’s policy of proactive contribution to peace and said it plays a major role in promoting regional peace and stability.<br />Abe expressed gratitude and pledged further efforts under his policy to contribute to peace and stability in the region and the world. Abe also referred to the signing of an economic partnership agreement between Japan and Mongolia in February. He said he hopes the agreement will help expand and develop economic ties between their countries.<br />Ts.Elbegdorj noted that Mongolia and Japan have become the friendliest nations in Northeast Asia and added that the economic pact is a symbol of bilateral relations at their peak. The two leaders agreed to strengthen economic cooperation and work to quickly bring the agreement into force.<br />During his visit to Japan, President Ts.Elbegdorj delivered a speech at the The Future of Asia International Conference on May 21.<br />World’s top politicians and notable social figures attend the conference, which is annually organized by Nihon Keizai Shimbun Inc.
